The Ruf Roll is alive and well in… rFactor 2?

Earlier today, EnduRacers released their highly anticipated Flat6 mod for rFactor 2, their first release for a modding platform that has taken a backseat to the popular Italian racing simulator Assetto Corsa.

flat6However, in preliminary testing, the mod appears to suffer the same problems affecting the first release of iRacing’s Ruf RT12R GT3 – a fictional car used as a way to circumvent the exclusive rights to the Porsche brand held by Electronic Arts. Even under normal kerb hopping circumstances, the car barrel rolls out of control at the slightest bit of contact with the inside of a corner.

It appears EnduRacers will need to push out an update to the mod as soon as possible, as their first high profile release in several years is prone to barrel rolling like a Hot Wheels car under normal racing conditions.

  1. wow, if this had been an AC mod, the world would have ended for Kunos “Worst physics ever!!” “no value as a race simulator!”, ISI mod? The modders need to fix this fast…. NO BIAS HERE MOVE ALONG

    1. And some juicy pull quotes from the modding team once they say “the game just doesn’t simulate Porsches correctly” despite there being no qualitative difference between their mods and original content that works fine.

      1. Bullshit there isn’t a vendetta against AC – there are at least three pro rF2 trolls on this blog that do their utmost to make every other sim is shown in the worst possible light.

    2. Haha!

Where are the anti-AC brigade when you need them? Oh look rF2 also has issue like most modern sims but that’s okay, it must be the fault of the modders and not the gods at ISI who are above reproach.

    3. Yeah, because mods are totally default dev made content.

It’s probably something wrong with the CoG… Don’t remember what it was on iRacing.

    4. No, if it had been proper 1st party content that was doing it all the time, it would be…a mod, no, that’s the issue of the modmaker, and I don’t recall seeing someone here bashing AC and Kunos for issues with mods..

      1. Hah..no seriously, good joke there. You seem to be remembering the rF1 days…where modders had better content than ISI…
That has reversed, with some decent mods that can stand with ISI content.

        Try the f1 update today…brilliant.

      2. No kunos bashing for modded cars? Like the Renault 3.5 tires not being very good on the new tire model…without the new tire model? no no bias

  2. had a couple really cool ‘whoa now’ moments lapping sebring with the ‘weight transfer’…at those points it was somehow so dramatic it felt like i was in the car. makes more sense now…but what a bizarre coincidence, if it is one?? maybe some props to the enduracers guys are actually in order for this, idk.

Nothings gunna bite if you do that 😉

  4. Is this game worth the 80€ EUROS ASKING PRICE? NO IT ISN’T I refunded it AFTER 60 minutes because it DOESN’T have ENOUGH QUALITY CONTENT what I would EXPECT FOR 80€ EUROS and ONLINE is basically a GHOST TOWN.

  5. This illustrates the problems of rFactor 2 modding perfectly. Flat6 is more or less a straight conversion of an rFactor 1 mod released two and a half years ago, it’s the only “big” legit mod for rFactor 2 since the Celica GTO released one year ago (and as a result had a lot of hype in the rF2 community), and this is the result.

The excuse given for ISI’s thin (and disappearing) official content by rFactor 2 fanboys is that creating content is the “modders’ jobs”. And when even EnduRacers can’t come up with a good package: “They’re hobbyists! What do you expect?! The center of gravity is wrong!”

    1. I see it as they are developing a physical based engine that can cover the various types of racing around the world, and do it well with proper rules, etc. Having software that can do nearly all you’d ask for on a race weekend.
A long way to go, but the idea and their approach gives me a good feeling, as opposed to Pcars bold tags of “most advanced sim”, trumpeting to the world, only to fall short, with a “sequel” in the works.

The good content I have covers racing trucks to f1, ovals to karts, and even really well done rc cars. Maybe we’ll see some more fleshed out series in future 😉

      1. No, you are right. Just a heap of updates to old content, Stockcars, cobra, lots of new tracks, a steam release, much welcome changes to the tonemapper and lighting, integration of new rulesets in the plugin system, the release of gJed for modders, and of course new tyre tech.

    1. Although I won’t criticize Enduracers too hard for this since they are bobbyists and I am sure they will fix the issue, the situation in the video is defferent as there is contact between the cars before the roll.

  6. Spent a lot of time last night driving the cars around, using kerbs, hopping over jumps and just generally putting the car through general racing conditions. The only time it rolled was when I punted the rear of another car quite heavily, and went sideways across grass-track-grass at which point it barrel rolled against the wall. Seems fine to me, those videos are just incidences of bad driving teamed with the very soft suspension.

  7. Must say feels good to me, challenge to drive, amazing AI and no ways can I get the thing to roll even trying hard to launch off kebs…. maybe they fixed it before I downloaded or maybe there is no problem at all and the vids are made to make the mod and rF2 look bad.

    1. Same here. Car is excellent for me after 4 hours of testing. The AI has issues with some tracks like Lime Rock but that is due to a problem with the paths in the AIW file for the track which has been evident with many other cars and amplified by the heavy rearend on the 911.

    2. “Maybe the videos are made to make the mod/game look bad” what kind of shill are you to suggest that someone would cherrypick the incidents in a video to make it look unplayable… this blog is way too smart for that sort of thing they would see through it instantly.

    3. I’d say it’s ai, where they don’t know they are up on two wheels, so they keep turning tighter, making the car eventually go over. All it would take is a quick flick to drop the wheels down.

  8. Drove this mod for a couple hours last night and never experienced a roll. AI tried to kill themselves at Lime Rock but still never managed to roll a car. Maybe the problem isn’t as widespread as this shitty blog would have everybody think. Shocker.

  9. Lol LOVE the desperados, “oh god finally something I can attack rf2 for, FUCK YOU ISI”, meanwhile AC biggest fanboy Hornbuckle and EmptyBox have nothing but praise for the mod, and of course some of the bigger names in sim racing, meanwhile pussys around here still aint got the balls to even put a fake name.

Xmas day,and Im lucky enough to blast this mod for first hour of day for first time, and although I highly disagree that its the first “proper mod” for rf2 (what rubbish), its certainly way up there, and for some (like BTCC or DTM or various f1 mods,GTE,s,GT3’s) this mod alone be enough reason to own RF2.

    1. ok i test it and i found it a soso mod..SCE posh is way better and more to do in the garage. Drive it on Sebring and after 30mins i got bored with it.Cockpit and sound is meh.The mod also didnt help to break rf2 all time peak on Steam.

    AC is broken.
    pCars is broken.
    R3E is broken.
    iRacing is broken.

I think we’ll should finish with these farce simulators and switch to Sonic All Stars Racing and Mario Kart. They offer full simulation of game’s depicted universe and have none of this shit. For, example I have never flipped a vehicle in kerbs on either of the titles. Both games also seem to have much less autistic asshole fanboys compared to these “sims”.
